John Leak and I have been involved in building two homes under the Ranchera label.
We built the two structures to a high level of quality, strength and design. One inspector made the statement “I have rarely made an inspection and found so few errors.” A former home builder stated to a city inspector that he believed the second story over the garage would support another vehicle if you could get it up there. We had somewhat over engineered the unsupported area of the garage ceiling. Our three car garage, oversized garage door and radiant barrier roofing are just a start of a list of extras that we included in our homes.
John was the experienced one and I was the novice. He showed a great deal of patience with my inexperience and even though he was careful to include me in the process and sought my input, I soon learned it best for the projects to go along with his design and construction decisions.
He is friendly and complimentary to the better subs but can be quite firm with the non-performing or under-performing ones.
His expenditure of time and effort to keep things moving is exceptional. At one time he probably expected others to work as hard as he but has mellowed some after learning that most people just don’t work that hard. His expectations of others is still quite high.
In my dealings with him he has been honest beyond question.
